| Balazs, an anesthesiologist currently living in Stanford, KY, came to the United States in 1999. Since hunting is so restricted in Europe, Balazs was looking forward to hunting here in America. He bought a bow first and then his muzzleloader. After his hunt in March he had this to say... "It was a surprise finding Canoe Creek Ranch (CCR). It was right here, so close to my new home. This was a dream come true after fantasizing many times about a Kentucky hunt. When I heard about CCR I checked the great website and next day I was on the ranch beating about the bush. The lodge was impressive both inside and out, sitting on a hill with eye-catching surroundings. I could tell immediately this promised an exciting hunting weekend that was longed for so much during the foggy winter. The flexible and very friendly staff assured me that basically any type of hunt is possible with the weapon of my choice. What is more they gave me a really charming choice: weekend hunt for two different exotics; one day bow, one day muzzleloader - my two favorites - all this for a very-very good price and the freedom of picking what I take from the exotics. (Palisades ram, goat or Corsican ram) The time came I showed up and I had the best weekend in 2007 so far at CCR. The hunt was simply awesome. First day bow - I never started a hunt before with a bow-warm-up. At CCR you can do that on the beautiful Hoyt USA 3D archery range. The warm up became very useful and important later to shoot accurately when the adrenaline rush hits you on the spot for the real 3D target. My guide was also awesome, experienced, relaxed and very friendly. I knew in 5 minutes this will be a great day. He even took care of my video camera and we shot an hour great quality video about the two days at CCR that I will always keep as well as the mounts on my wall. The goat I wanted was found in 2 hours. Then an exciting 1-hour chase came when, with some luck and tricks, I could get to my goat to about 35-40 yards. Thanks to the morning warm up, my arrow did not miss the window of opportunity. You can see the picture on the photo gallery. The nicest goat I have ever seen; shiny hair, huge horns, great color. I do not know about you but I love stalking hunts. This was all I wanted. What a day! The next morning my muzzleloader was waiting eagerly to release the 50 caliber Hornady. Surprisingly this day looked harder than the day before. Adding to the excitement was my fear of the buffalos on the ranch. You never know what mood they are in. I saw some damage on 500lbs feeders and trees that this power machine made! After stalking through several hills and valleys of I eventually found him; A good looking Corsican ram standing uphill around 100 yards away facing me. We were crawling in the grass hoping not to alert him too much since he was ready to disappear. Then the moment came that we all know and will always remember. The moment when the weapon fires putting something irreversible to the air, the bagged animal or just gunsmoke and nothing else. This time my CVA and the timing did the job with a heart shot in the ram. Needless to say I was happy. Maybe next time I’ll go after the cocky buffalo! CCR is in central Kentucky easy to access, always waits for you with something new to offer, great meals, friendly people and top designed lodge with full log furniture rooms. CCR, where the most important is consideration is you, your hunt and your guaranteed good memory. Thanks Ken and Jay I will be back." Balazs Makai MD |

"As a Californian who enjoys whitetail hunting in the eastern United States, it has been my good fortune to discover the great folks at Canoe Creek Ranch. Ken and his staff have gone out of their way to make my deer hunting with them pleasurable and successful. It was my good fortune this past season the take the largest buck of my life as you can see from the photos. These folks know the hunting and guiding business! The success of the hunt not withstanding, the great hospitality and accommodations are notable. I’ll be back again and again."
Thanks again

Great hunt at Spike Camp:
When we got to camp Justin reccommended drawings for stands. He said he had six good stands, but three had been really hot. Justin was right! All six stands produced deer, but the three hot stands produced 3 nice eight point bucks. One was missed and two were taken. All six hunters in our group had a chance to take a deer. THe best part of the whole experience for me was being able to walk out of the tent and go hunting.
Thanks Guys,
